Skilling, Re-Skilling and Up-Skilling Key to India Becoming Self-Reliant
Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi while addressing the Nation amid the on-going third phase of lockdown on May 12 said that the state of the world today teaches us that an 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' is the only way.
Atmanirbhar, the Hindi word that some of us may not
have heard or not known its meaning. The word 'Aatmanirbhar' had put
many Indians in a tizzy and initially it seemed that citizens struggled
to understand what he meant by 'AtmaNirbhar Bharat'. The literal
translation of the word Atmanirbhar is self-reliance. Just within an
hour of his speech, people started searching for the word ‘Atmanirbhar’
on Google.
Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi during his
address to the nation on the occasion of World Youth Skills Day on July
15, 2020 laid stress on that skilling, re-skilling, up-skilling are not
only key to Atmanirbhar Bharat especially at a time when the world reels
under a pandemic, but will also help the youth to stay relevant in the
job market. “Skill is something which we give to ourselves, skill is a
treasure. Skill is self-reliance, makes one not only employable but
self-employable. Skill is not only a way to earn. It is also a driving
